Asphalt paving in Hayden
Prairie on one side, lake and timber on the other, and long driveways in between.
The long driveways east of Hayden are the jobs we like most and the ones that get quoted least carefully. A quarter mile of private road is not a big driveway — it is a small road, and it needs to be built like one, with drainage that works when snowmelt is coming off the slope above it.
It is also the kind of job where a contractor from further out will quote high just to cover the drive time. Being twelve minutes away is most of why our number on that work tends to look different.
The ground here
Hayden splits cleanly in two. West of US-95 you are on prairie outwash — gravel, free-draining, forgiving to build on. East toward the lake the ground rises into timber, the lots get bigger and the driveways get considerably longer, and you start dealing with runoff coming down at you from uphill rather than just falling on the surface. Those east-side jobs need culverts and ditching thought through, not just a wider mat.
